Uncustomizing would be nice, but a better improvement would be this:
Allow 'customized' weapons to be equipped and used by other players, but the 20% damage bonus only applies if the original customizer is weilding it.
Basically, YOU have a 20% damage bonus with the weapon and no-one else. However, it can be sold, traded, equipped and used by other players.

Still doesn't deal with the fact that you end up with a +20% weapon virtually free. Let's just add 20% to all weapons and be done with it, or have a -30% penalty when wielded by anyone else.

I'd prefer it if it was customized to your account and not your character. >.<

Imagine bringing your bow to a fletcher and saying "I want you to fit this to my hand please." He shapes the haft to your hand, shaving off pieces of wood. You then say "Oh, I changed my mind. Could you make it generic again?" He says "No problem" and then glues the wood shavings back onto the bow..... What?
/not signed. You are missing the whole point of customization.

Don't know about bows and swords but as a weapons technician I have successfully used rifles that were customized to a specific person (sighting, butt length, weight, etc.) but wasn't able to use it as accurately as the person it was customized for. Actually I wasn't even able to use it as accurately as a bench/bore sighted rifle. So if they are going to implament a change then it should be that if you use a weapon customized to someone else then you do 20% less damage instead of 20% more. At the same time though they would have to allow the person who bought the weapon be able to recustomize or decustomize it at a price. The price would have to depend on the weapon itself so a rare max weapon would cost something like 5k for customize/recustomize and a low damage, no requirement, normal item would only cost something like 100g. A decustomization would cost half. This way if you do customize it, it will lower the value of the item since the person buying would have to invest money to use it properly. As for the cost mentioned, they are just thrown in as examples.

Just get rid of Customization. Adjust the damage for all the weapons and get rid of that 10g 'goldsink'.

As others have said, the whole point of customisation was so you have to chose between being able to sell the weapon later, or using it at full strength on one of your chatacters.

/co-signed.. most of the petitions ive seen recently are for making the game easier, the benifits vs. disadvantages of customisation are very easy to discern and is balanced.. unlike the suggestion of being able to remove customisation
